Hello,

I appreciate this communication link and I thank you for your time. I am a "new celiac," however my doctor never confirmed this diagnosis. Actually, I spent nearly all of my summer and part of the school year visiting one doctor or another. Also, I was very ill during this duration. (constipation, extreme fatigue, extreme stomach pain after meals and almost all the time...) The symptoms were much like I have read. My doctor mentioned the possibility of a gluten allergy, so I immediately stopped eating the food. About three days later I had a colonoscopy and a blood test (though when they took my blood, I was still "out of it.") To make a long story short, I went though a battery of other tests, meanwhile temporarily feeling better. Except, after my doc. said that the blood test was negative, I went back on a "normal" diet. After eating at steak and shake (grilled cheese & milk shake) and being sick all night, I figured that I was back to square one. All my other tests came back negative as well. (including the enterocysis)

I guess I am wondering how many other individuals have had negative blood work with similar symptoms. Many of my doctors were convinced that I either had a virus (ugh! that was a long battle) or irritable bowel (however none of the benefiber, metamucil... worked.) Additionally, could it be that I am simply allergic to MSG or something? Is MSG related to Celiac Sprue Allergy? Finally, it seemed I was still feeling ill until I stopped using the toaster and butter that my family uses.

Sometimes I feel as though this "allergy" is all in my head. I often want to go back to "normal" food. I am hoping for reassurance I guess. I am headed off to college next year and I am a little worried about eating and all. I don't ever want to be as sick as I was again and even the slightest stomach pain leaves me questioning my food, stress level....

Thanks again. I think I just needed to "vent," but I would appreciate feedback regarding blood tests,...

Jackie
