Many ppl have emailed me with questions about quinoa (pronounced
keen-wah),....many with incorrect info that quinoa comes from rhubarb or
similar ideas .....

here's the quick explanation.....two subclasses of the class of
flowering plants are monocot or dicot ...  wheat, rye, barley are one
group of monocots, rice corn millet job's tears, ragi, teff, sugarcane
and oats are another group of monocots.

in the dicot subclass, there is an order called caryophyllales...in that
order, there are three familes: polygonaceae (buckwheat and rhubarb),
chenopodiaceae (quinoa and spinach), and amaranthaceae (amaranth and
pigweed).  as you can see, rhubarb and quinoa are 'cousins' much the
same way that wheat/rye/barley is with corn or sugarcane.
