Hi Dan - I agree too! Ron Morford's VERT (Verbal Emulation in Real Time - yeesh!) was the first wide scale, speech navigation system successful sold for the PC. It was the first that provided full screen access of the PC, rather than the line at a time access employed for dumb terminal emulation. Ron also was the first to completely synchronize continuous reading of the screen with the writing cursor, without the need to enter into a reading only mode. Because he maintained control of his source code, TeleSensory eventually dropped him. They decided he was costing them too much money, as well as taking too long to program new features (that was debatable). This was why they introduced the disaster that was Speech Plus, to get "better control" of the product. Just another example of corporate hubris and greed shooting itself in the foot once again. If they had not stopped supporting Ron's efforts, Artic may never have replaced Vert as the system of choice before Vocal Eyes came along. The market is such an interesting place! - Bob
