Don,

I have done some research on SPSS with Jaws and found out that Jaws 5.0
comes with the scripts that Richard has created. The problem that I
have been running into is when you are in the Data view and try to run a
frequency on the data the dialog box that pops up cannot be resized.
This is the problem: Because it cannot be resized jaws is reading the
variables like this for instance: What the name of the variable is:
communication between mother and father. What Jaws reads: Communication
betwee. What ever the size of the left side box is is what jaws is
going to read. Unless you use the mouse and hover over the highlighted
variable name (but this only works ocassionally).

I suggested maybe writing or creating something so the dialog box can
be resized to view the entire names of the variables, but this would
have to be done by support at SPSS.

Any Ideas....or more scripts I should know about?

Emily

Hi Emily,

I work at the U.S. Department of Education's Assistive Technology team,
and
your message regarding Jaws and SPSS was referred to me.

As I understand things, there are scripts for SPSS versions 10 and 11,
but I
am not sure about version 12. I have written to the Royal National
institute for the Blind in London, because a gentleman who is
affiliated
with RNIB, Richard Orme, wrote the scripts for the previous versions
of
SPSS. I have asked him if he is writing scripts for version 12. As
soon as
I hear back from him, I will let you know.

Talk soon,

Don Barrett

Has anyone used Jaws and SPSS (statistical software package) together?

Emily
