outSPOKEN for Macintosh now includes MacBraille

Oakland, CA - July 25, 2002 - ALVA today announced the release of outSPOKEN
for Macintosh 9.2 with MacBraille.  With this new version of outSPOKEN for
Macintosh, blind users of the Macintosh computer will have access to
information in Braille when used in conjunction with a refreshable Braille
display.

This latest revision of the popular screen reader for the Macintosh now
includes grade 0 Braille (computer Braille) output as well as improved
features and stability.  "Adding Braille output to outSPOKEN is definitely
going to make a lot of people happy," said Lou Grosso, outSPOKEN product
manager.  "For some-time, outSPOKEN users have been encouraging us to add
Braille output.  We're all very pleased knowing that MacBraille will make a
big difference in a lot of people's lives."

outSPOKEN for Macintosh, recipient of a prestigious Smithsonian aware,
continues to grow and meet the demands of blind Macintosh users worldwide.
Originally released in 1988, outSPOKEN for Macintosh is the preeminent
screen reader for the Macintosh computer.  Now with MacBraille, blind
individuals will experience a new level of information that lends to
improved comprehension and retention.  "Educators working with blind
students will find MacBraille particularly valuable.  From now on, students
reading Braille can use the same platform their classmates are using - a
Macintosh, and that's great news" said Larry Lake, director of ALVA Access

outSPOKEN 9.2 with MacBraille is available through a worldwide network of
