I like the Philips monitors. I have a Phillips 17" 107P. A good 19" one
will do good. As for as a video card, I highly recommend a Matrox G550.
It is about $130 but has a feature called PixelTOUCH that will zoom your
desktop 1x, 2x, or 4x. Well, technically it is 1x, 4x, and 16x but 2x and
4x is what Matrox says. You just move your cursor around and the desktop
smoothly shifts. Takes some getting used to but I like it. I use a
1600x1200 desktop but at 2x and 4x zooming, it is quite readible. I have a
hotkey set up (Ctrl+Alt+"Keypad +" wich cycles between the three zoom
levels.
PixelTOUCH is implimented in the video card hardware itself so Windows is
not really aware it is happening so there are not any software
compatibility issues. For more info on PixelTOUCH check out my interview
with Matrox at:

Unfornately, you can't just go to Best Buy or CompUSA to get a Matrox
G550. The computer store will need to special order it from Matrox or you
can buy it online at the http://shopmatrox.com web store.
Good luck,
Steven
