Downloading mp3 files from the main menu archive, in the way you have
outlined and where you don't have a podcatcher, has been possible for
years. However, it is good now and then to remind all comers how it can be
done.

Subject: [VICUG-L] downloading main menu shows, it can be done!
Hi all,
As you all know, main menu is a show for blind and visually impaired
computers.
Now of course, it is a show that when you click on to a show, you can only
listen to it, but that's not the case any more.
Did you know you can get main menu shows sent to you as a podcast?
Yes, you really can!
Just go to
http://www.acbradio.org/blog
And read on that page on how to do that.
Or, go to
http://www.acbradio.org
Then click on on demand
then click on main menu.
You can find out there as well, how to get main menu as a podcast when a new
show comes out.
However, if you don't have a podcast player, like I don't, and you just
wanna download a main menu show, just do the following.
Go to
http://www.acbradio.org
then click on the on demand link, then click on the link for main menu.
Now, let's say, you want to hear a segment of main menu from 24 October,
2007.
What to do?
First, click on the link which is the date of the show.
Then, use your player of choice, winamp, windows media player, real player,
and go to the segment, (also called track), you want to download. On the
show for last week, there are 3 tracks or segments.
Then, listen to the filename your screen reader reads to you.
An example could be mm1399.mp3
So, after you have the file name.
We'll now type an example of a main menu segment you can download.
then type for example, or just click on the example that I've typed in
below.
http://www.acbradio.org/archives/mainmenu/mm1463.mp3
Now, that was just an example, but you always type the
http://www.acbradio.org/archives/mainmenu
part first, before you type in the file name.
If you don't know the file name, you won't be able to download the
particular main menu show you want.
Now folks, there are 7 and a half years of main menu shows on the main menu
page.
So, have fun, happy main menuing!
Harry
