If both ASUS motherboards do not seem to be working with the floppy drive at
all, I would say the floppy drive is bad. Replace the floppy and see what
happens from there. Floppy drives these days cost 10 to 15 bucks a piece.
Otherwise it also could be faulty cable connection. Make sure the floppy
cable to the floppy drive is not reversed. This is the cause of about 90% of
floppy problems. If it is not connected right the floppy light will stay on
forever. The last possibility is the floppy controller on the motherboard is
not working. That would mean that the motherboard has to be replaced. This
rarely happens, so I don't think that this is the problem. Especially with
both ASUS motherboards.
