Howdy... Dave:
Thanks to our Lord, we are not alone in this planet, there are still good guys
like you, willing to help others.
I think, I have resolved my shut down problem, with your input of course.
I was using in my PC a McAfee virus scan software V. 4.0.3 ( same owners of
Norton Anti Virus). Apparently, when I downloaded the WIN 98 service pack 1, I
did not disable the McAfee icon first in the system tray (as recommended by
Microsoft). Consequently, one of the files got corrupted causing the shut down
problem in my PC.
I followed the following course of action: First, I uninstalled the virus scan
software using the "ADD/REMOVE" applet in the Control Panel. Secondly, I
deleted all the remaining virus scan files left in the hard drive. Lastly, when
I reinstalled the software, I disabled in the properties dialog box, the floopy
disk scan option when the PC shut down.
So far, the PC is behaving fine, I will keep you posted in something new
happens.
Again, many thanks for your help. GOD bless you, the list group and America.
