Considering the other revolution at the time was the French one, many of the
founding fathers were worried how quickly a good idea can turn into mob rule
and chaos.

the schools never teach how our system works and so we have a couple of
generations that have grown up thinking this to be a "democracy." a lynch
mob is a democracy, but it is not good for the one being lynched.
