The board I have definitely has two parts. The main speech board is the
size of a large postage stamp. There is a small rectangular extension.
Without the extension the board would install vertically (if it would
fit) and with the extension the board installs horizontally. My wife
says the speech board is clearly marked as the UT-102.

Thanks for your hints, I *WILL* get this thing to work! 73, Ken - N5SWR

hi,
there is no extension on the ut102 so I am not sure what you removed.
the only thing that should be removed from the ut102 is the tape on the
back. Roy

Subject: IC-718 and UT-102 speech board

Hello, I just bought a used IC-718 and I am trying to install the UT-102
speech board. No matter what we try to do, it doesn't seem to fit.
There seems to be a diode on the main board that is in the way. Also
the connector for the DSP seems to be in the way. Anyone had any
problems installing the speech unit? BTW, we did remove the small
extension that comes with the ut-102.

Thanks, Ken - N5SWR
