Did you remember to unplug the power first? The MB might have been powered
up even though the other parts of the system are not working. The newer
boards have a LED light to indicate that the power is still on. I had a
SOYO that did this, when I turned off all power and turned it back on,
everything worked fine.

Subject: chassis fan puzzle
i opened my computer this morning to switch CPU fans and noticed that i'd
forgotten to plug in a new Enermax chassis fan i'd installed a few weeks
ago. i plugged the chassis fan into the chassis fan connection on an Asus
A7M266 MB, booted the computer and got nothing. no beep, no video. i tried
the NB fan connection (for chipsets) and everything is working fine. i had a
different chassis fan plugged into the chassis fan connection and everything
worked fine. i'm wondering why the new fan caused problems. any ideas?
