Actually the version is the full release version. The reason that they can
release it on the Walmart machines is that it was designed to run
specifically on the Micron hardware. They are still developing drivers,
etc., for a wider range of machines. Now, Lindows is not claiming that it
will be developed to run all Windows programs, only some and will have
programs that will read and manipulate MS windows application files. The
initial release version is only designed to run programs that can read and
edit MS Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint. I think that they have even
dropped the premise that it will be able to run MS Office Suite of
products. Now they are pushing for developers to develop Lindows
applications that can manipulate Windows application files.
I wish them luck. Competition is good.
