It seems that you bought a gold button (500$) to an old cotton jeans.
Try the following:
First, remove CD from IDE connectors and see if the system is stable.
Second, remove your CD from Control Panel/System/Device Manager.
Third, You'd better to install new CD on another IDE connector as the
second Master. HDD and CD shouldn't to be on the same IDE!
Fourth, try to reinstall your new CD.
