I agree, although with other sugars/ starches mostly eliminated, you can adjust based on what you can tolerate.  I'd start out no fruit, then after adjusting to the diet, add low glycemic fruits to see what is tolerated well and in what amounts.  Be careful with grapes in particular; unlike other fruits, they contain glucose.  And of course, educate your doctor by having him monitor your progress!
