I think it's much more about most foods being breaded to death and/or fried
in cheap fats. KFC, Waffle House or Krystals and their ilk are
everywhere... it seems that Southerners are drawn toward these convenience
foods (regardless of monetary issues) that are chock full of artificial
colors, flavors, preservatives and grain derivatives. As paleo as a
rocketship,
