Ousman, It is either the Ramadan or this funny language they call English. I think we are all "rowing in the same direction". All I meant to say was that Yes Jammeh does possess the powers to hire and fire any one he so desires in his administration in accordance to the Constitution. HOWEVER, most leaders and powers of authorities are very careful of how they exercise this power and this is exactly "what Jammeh is faced with". Our daily hiring and firing are always questioned and Jammeh's will be no different. Ous, this is why some of the Democrats and Union reps have a problem with sections of the Home Land Security bill; the powers it gives to Bush.
The best suggestion in this whole saga is for Jammeh to put in place a good and vibrant recruiting process rather than hiring an firing individual like he doesn't know what he is doing. The last thing you want is a bad track record of hiring the wrong candidate that you will be forced to fire within a short period, days in some cases in the Gambia.

Anyway, I see the point you are trying to make. Sure President Jammeh
is trying. I am not sure if you read the posting Jungle forwarded to
the List? It was sent after yours anyway.
I believe the presidnet is trying and he need people around him to get
to what he desires for the nation which I am sure all as Gambians
desires. All of us may have different ways in getting to it, but I
think we all want the best.
On "abusing" the powers as you alledged, I do not think that is what he
did either. When we talk of presidential powers we need to be very sure
of what we are saying. I am not a lawyer, but I am yet to hear anyone
here argue that what he did was abusing his powers. And remember, there
is no where in our constitution that said that he ought to consult with
anyone to nominate or fire his cabinet members. Not that I heard of or
read yet in this room. So when alledges that he abused his power to do
that, I certainly would want to hear how. I am not trying to put a spin
to this, but what Mr. Abdoulie Jallow said is the only fact here. If
the guy is voted in to serve the nation, why can't he be freely allowed
to do what is empowered to him within, and again I repeat, WITHIN the
constitution?
