I came to the university with a terminal degree(sounds fatal). I was granted
tenure in my second year. Things are very different now and some institutions
are implementing Tenure Review Committees. I am glad I got out in time.
Looking back I was the luckiest fellow to get a doctorate when I did with no
planning whatsoever!
