Scott,

       Now university politics is something I know well. I have served on
tenure and promotion committees at the department and college level. It can be
brutal. I have black balled people for trivial reasons. I have also been "used"
by people seeking my favor. From 1976 until 2001 I was a full professor and
had some juice. They say university politics is dirty. I "grew up" in it, so to
me it was a fact of life and, yes, Kat, there were few women full professors.
