EVEN LIBERAL SAN FRANCISCO BACKS IRAQ WAR - POLL

Most people in San Francisco, home to the nation's
strongest anti-war
protest movement, back the war against Iraq, as does
the rest of
California, a poll released on Tuesday found. A Field
poll of 1,006
Californians found that across California, 55 percent
strongly approved
of U.S. military action to remove Iraqi leader Saddam
Hussein from
power, with another 21 percent expressing some
support. Backing in the
San Francisco area, where more than 2,000 anti-war
demonstrators have
been arrested since the war started, is weaker but
still far more than
the ongoing series of protests would suggest.
