Pat Robertson's call for Hugo Chavez' assassination with interest. A link to a follow-up story is listed below. Also, I made the following comment yesterday, but it apparently didn't get to the AAM listserv when I submitted it: Although I wouldn't equate Pat Robertson with Osama bin Laden or put them side by side, I have serious issues with Rev. Robertson. He makes reckless statements and doesn't seem to fully understand the issues he's addressing. A case in put [sic, read "point"] is his dealing with Charles Taylor of Liberia in years past. His endorsement of Taylor, in the face of all that had transpired to that point, baffled me and continues to do so even to this day. You can say that he's a thorn in the side of many, including Christians. I won't be surprised if he puts more of his feet in his mouth in years or months to come. - Wilmot Robertson Apologizes for Calling for Assassination By Alan Cooperman The Rev. Pat Robertson apologized yesterday for calling for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, saying he spoke "in frustration" over the U.S. government's inaction toward a man who has "found common cause with terrorists."
