Two months ago I *was* having this problem of a black screen at boot:
Turning on the PC there is no display, just a black screen.
The light on the monitor turns green for few seconds then orange.
The computer though indicates it is booting normally.
Upon a tech's advise, I changed the Rams & the video card and from there on
no more black screen but .. I'm having a new problem now:
While in windows, the screen warps suddendly (accompanied with a slight
flicker) then goes back to normal after few seconds.
Recently, it has been taking 1 to 2 minutes!!
System:
win98se, Pentium III 550 mmx, video [32 mb NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64]
Board [intel Seattle II SE440BX-2], Board chipset [intel Natoma]
BIOS [intel Phoenix 4S4EB2X0.86A.0022.P15 09/27/1999]
Rams [2modules x 64mb SDRAM], Monitor [viewsonic E651]
Settings [600x800, 16 bit color, refresh rate 'Optimal']
Frustrated and desperate for ideas?
