My Inaccessile boot device problem was resolved by
loading the *correct* scsi driver at the beginning of the
install process.

I had downloaded adaptecs "U160 family" driver,
which on closer inspection was for the 29160 and
39160 cards. My card, the 19160, has a different
driver, which I then downloaded.

Using the 19160 driver made everything go smoothly.
I'm able to install directly off of the cd-rom, as well as
start the install off floppies. I don't need to make any
special bios setting (boot order, etc.).

Thanks for everyone's help.
