Non sugar drinks like tea, almost never drink sugar drinks, berries
have 39 grams of carbo for 300 grams total weight. My whole diet is
quite low carb except these berries. 39 grams isn't a lot, is it? I
probably pick up a few more grams from carrot sticks and the like, but
still not high. Certainly far far less than anyone on a standard diet.
Is stomach acid somehow related to sugar? Never heard that before. It
seems likely the opposite would be true, carnivores tend to have high
acid.
Actually, I think it was a combination of a lot of factors added up
that caused it. It seems I like and indulge in all of the behaviors
that lead to acid reflux. I love chocolate and ate a lot of it. I drank
lots of tea and coffee, I ate lots of tomatoes, citrus, mint. I love
late night snacking. The only thing I don't do that was on the list was
overdrinking, I rarely drink much.
It interested me how many of these foods are on the edge of what I
consider paleo. Chocolate is a South American bean, edible or not it is
not part of my genetic history. Tomatoes ditto, a new world nightshade.
Citrus is native to east Asia, not likely many of my ancestors ever ate
any until a few hundred years ago at most. Same for tea. Coffee is from
Africa, but is not edible raw, a bean. So I cut all these out and gain
a certain paleo purity. Maybe it really will help. Cutting out the
cream is the biggest blow, I was getting a lot of calories from my
cream/berry icecream.
