My two year old was diagnosed in April. She suffered severe malnourishment, weight loss, diahrrea, no energy. She was so damaged according to her biopsy that they took her off food and drink for two weeks and nourished her through a central line in her chest. Within 2 months we saw MAJOR improvement. She has gained 7 pounds and acts like a "normal" 2 year old. Since my 8 year old and my husband have also had "problems" we had them tested. 8 year old's blood work came back very high levels. GI doc said she has CD but we need to get biopsy to confirm. 8 year old freaked out!!! On the day the biopsy was scheduled to be done, she was sick, fever and all. We cancelled the biopsy and made her GF. MAJOR improvement in symptoms. No more diahrrea, cramping, gas, and amazingly got rid of "rash" she has had for 4 years that never responded to 3 dermatologist's treatment. Sound familiar? Possibly DH? Now to husband. Diahrrea (no formed BM in 14 years!!!!), major gas, bloating, cramping, lack of energy. Decided to go GF against my wishes before testing. He has been GF for one month. No improvement to speak of . I feel quite certain he has CD, along with a couple of people in his family. How long will it take before he sees improvement? I've heard it can take months to years, especially with him having such severe symptoms for 14 years. BTW- 4 GI docs diagnosed him with IBS. What have been some of your experiences? Will summarize.
Kim
