My original message:
With some gf products being pricey I was wondering if anyone has researched
the best prices on Tinkyada and Bi-Aglut pastas (by the package) as well as
where they might be bulk ordered for a discounted price. I thought that some
support/awareness groups might already be doing this.

I do bulk buy bread from Glutino and All of my mixes and Tinkyada pasta from
Gluten free pantry. I always have stuff on hand and it saves on shipping.
----
Trader Joe's has very good prices and the pasta tastes as good and cooks up
as well as the expensive Tinkyada counterpart.
-----
I live in Los Angeles and we have a large chain of stores here called 99cent
stores. Don't know where else they have them but last week I bought LB
packages of rice pasta for 99cents. Can't do better then that.
----
I know you can buy a case of just about anything at Fresh Fields/Whole
Foods Market and they will discount the price 5-10% (I forget which).
We have found Tinkyada to be the best pasta around. It doesn't get
mushy and fall apart like some of the other pastas.
---
Many of the mail order companies offer discounts on cases. I have gone to
this way of ordering pasta, since it is shelf-stable.
----
I order from several places, but I think I use Dietary Specialties most
often. They have good cake, muffin and quick-bread mixes, and each package
contains 2 pouches, so you can make a larger or smaller batch. Each pouch
makes 1 loaf of bread, or 12 muffins, or a 1 layer cake.
I can't find a recent price list, but one dated June 2001 shows Biaglut
Spaghetti (17.6 oz) for $5.40 ea. or 8 for $36.75 (works out to $4.59).
Their website is www.dietspec.com . They have a toll-free number
(1-888-640-2800) and have always been easy to deal with. The food comes in
quickly, well packed, and credit cards are accepted.
---
HAVE YOU TRIED CONTACTING THE COMPANY AND ASKING THEM HOW MUCH A CASE WOULD
BE. ALSO TRY YOU LOCAL HEALTH FOOD STORE. IF YOU BUY A CASE THEY MIGHT SELL
IT TO YOU CHEAPER.
----
I looked last summer and I found then that ordering bulk Tinkyada pasta (by
the case) from Gluten Free pantry was the cheapest! But it also depends on
who is having what specials when. You might also be able to get it through a
co-op in your area for even cheaper. Here in Illinois we have one called
Blooming Prairie Co-op.
---
I live in NYC and have been thinking about a buying club. Let me know what
you find. There is a lot of info about starting a co-op and I know several
people that get together and do that but not for GF foods.
