Hi all,
Maybe it is useful to comment on the many postings about the gluten content
of drugs.
I have been informed by a pharmacologist who is involved in registration of
drugs that one of the main differences between the USA and Europe is that
in most European countries the starch (flour) filler is an integral part of
the registration. So it is not possible to change from one type of filler
to another without violating the conditions under which the registration
was granted. Whether or not there is gluten in the drug is unfortunately
not stated in the instructions, but (at least in The Netherlands) one might
quite easily become informed about that by consulting a pharmacologist who
is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee of our National Celiac
Society and who has better access to his collegues in the industry than the
layman.
