i think recent Finnish studies have shown a strong link between the two, but
the problem arises from exposure to cow's milk before the age of 2. until
then [roughly] the baby's immune system is immature, and more porous to
peptides. it needs to be this way to allow the peptides in mother's milk to
penetrate in whole form in order to provide their immunological uses.

so cow's milk peptides will do a bad job of imitating this and set up an
auto-immune reaction which results in destruction of the islets of
Langerhan.
