I am surprised that you left the mouse off your list of components, especially
since it seems to be the bane of your PC.   I would suspect the mouse...   I
have seen this sort of thing out of a cheap mouse.   I quit saving money on
a mouse a long time ago and always use a real MS PS/2 mouse.  Even then,
occasionally you run onto a mouse that just will not work properly or causes
all sorts of issues.   Also, did you go into your CMOS settings and insure that
the PS/2 mouse was enabled?  This is of course with the assumption that
you have a PS/2 mouse.
