> Hope it goes well for you. Our hair-trigger son recently turned 18, just graduated from high school, and is off to a very good school. He knows how to order at restaurants (we modeled it well), and so far he's done very well. He also knows (because we talked about it) when a server "doesn't get it." He's learned how to be polite but definitive, and when to ask for a manager and/or to simply cancel the order, pay for what's been consumed, and leave. Work with your child on all of this - it will pay off.

Mr. Manager, please note that I am severely allergic to the following [...]
That means that if one of those ingredients as much as *touches* the food that I ordered, I will have a serious allergic reaction.
I will vomit and, in the worst case, my throat may constrict, preventing me from breathing, which means there's a chance of me dying before the ambulance arrives. I am not sure that the other patrons are knowledgeable enough to discern an allergic reaction from a case of food poisoning.

I would really appreciate it if you will personally make sure that I can continue to enjoy your establishment without risking my life and scaring your other customers away.

Thank you.
