ART IN GHANA;THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF A
GHANAIAN ARTIST
This presentation in two parts, gives an insight into
various artistic practices in Ghana including
Indigenous arts, Way side arts,and Academic
professional arts.In the first part, Prof Peligah will
discuss example of indigenous art from Northern Ghana,
Ashanti,Volta and the Coastal areas[Fanti and Ga]
The second part of the presentation is devoted to the
view of Peligah's own development as a painter.

ISLAM, ART AND ART EDUCATION IN
GHANA.[IMPRESSIONS,MISCONCEPTIONS AND REALITIES]
In this lecture, Prof Peligah,a practicing muslim,
discusses how certain impressions, and misconceptions
among both Muslims and non- Muslims concerning the
phenomenon of art in Islam, has affected the study and
practice of Art and Art Education in Ghana.This is
contrasted with the realites of Quranic statements
about art and related phenomena and their impacts on
socio-cultural developments.
