When you go to View and click on Header and Footer, you have to work with
the toolbar that appears on the screen. I usually delete what I put in
originally and then use the toolbar to enter it again as I want it. If you
are putting the numbers at the top of the page, you will probably want to go
to properties or something like that and tell it to make the first page
different and then leave the header for a the first page blank.

Subject: [VICUG-L] Removing Page Numbers in Word
Hi All:
Does anyone know how to remove misplaced page numbers in a Microsoft
Word document, such that you don't have to remove and re-insert the page
number on each page? I looked in the Microsoft knowledge base and
didn't see anything apparent. What the person I am working with needs
to know is how can she remove the page number from the footer part of
the MS Word Headers and Footers view and place it in the Header part of
that view? She has tried deleting the number and that doesn't seem to
work. This person is using Window-Eyes Version 5.5, Windows XP Home and
MS Word 2003.
Thanks for any ideas.
