Hi,

Sorry for the long delay in reading the list and posting an answer.

It may be that the modem you had mentioned ( 33.6 ) was a hardware
modem set to com 2 for instance and the Bios of the main board with win95,
may of had a com port
also set to com 2.  That would allow for the modem to be seen in device
manager, but
not set to work correctly.
