Mineral licks are mentioned.  Hmmm.....Maybe the hunters used them also?
Maybe supplementation isn't strictly a modern contrivance for health?  I'm
reminded of my favorite Audette quotation (maybe I'll get the wording
right)--The human body can't require that which in nature it cannot acquire.

Finally received my Jan 20th copy of Newsweek. (I think our rural mail
carriers sometimes pre-read our magazines.)  Did anyone notice the
side-by-side about Boyd Eaton's *The Paleolithic Prescription* compared to
other "diet" books by Atkins, Sears, and Ornish?
