 Hi all,

I am new to this list. My son was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease by a positive blood test for the "transglutaminase antibody".
The rest of the family is being tested but we do not have results yet. I have been diagnosed with mild hyperthyroidism (Graves Disease) which is also an autoimmune disorder and I suspect I will be positive for Celiac also. The pediatric GI doc who is treating my son said there is a wide spectrum in how Celiac presents itself with people and to what degree they have symptoms. Does this mean that someone with very mild or no symptoms can eat wheat on an occasional basis? I suspect in my son's case it is rather serious since he does have many symptoms i.e. stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, and his antibody test was rather high. He has now been on a GF diet for a month and is improving. I am just wondering if the amount of wheat we can eat is dependent on the severity of symptoms for those who have only mild or no symptoms?
