I had asked how often certain tests were ordered for CD patients, especially since I understood that we with CD are at greater risk for lymphoma.  

The consensus is that the risk for lymphoma is very small to begin with, and reverts to that of the normal population within 5 to 8 years of following a gf diet.  

Bone density scans are run annually by most doctors, although some insurance companies require a 2 yr. interval.  

Follow-up endoscopies are not thought to be necessary by most doctors, if the patient is symptom-free and following a gf diet faithfully.  In cases of severe intestinal damage, they are ordered as often as the doctor feels is necessary to monitor improvement.  

Colonoscopies are ordered along guidelines applying to the general population, and are not considered preventative measures for CD patients.
