Amy,
My youngest daughter has anaphylaxis to dairy, as well as other food
allergies. In addition, my middle daughter was constantly constipated,
moody, had a poor attention span, etc. After we took our middle child off
of dairy her symptoms (probably ADHD) almost totally disappeared. Reading
labels is a pain at first, but once you get used to it the task improves.
Don't give up! Also, you might check out the website for the Feingold diet,
which is used for some children with ADHD. I don't know the website, but
you could run a search for it.

Best wishes,

Rene

>Hi everyone. I am new to the No-Milk situation and to this type of forum.
>I
>wanted to write in and get advice and any direction to any websites that
>might be of help. In my situation, I have a two year old that might be
>PDD/Autistic. We have an appointment in April to see a Developmental
>Pediatrician for an evaluation. Our Pediatrician has recommended that we
>try
>the No Dairy approach. Our two year old, Gregory, is not talking. He does
>some babbling, but no form words. He makes little or no eye contact,
>sometimes, and likes to line objects up when he plays with them. He sleeps
>through the night and is a picky eater. He is currently receiving help
>through the Early Intervention Unit for speech, OT and a special education
>teacher weekly. We put him on Soy milk when his bottom kept breaking out
>in
>a rash with bleeding. The soy milk cleared this up. Now, we want to try
>taking ALL milk out of his diet. This is very hard. Every label of every
>cookie has milk or some form of powder milk. Plus, I do not understand
>every
>ingredient listed. I am hoping for some advice. Also, my two older boys
>have been diagnosed with ADHD. I have read that milk can have something to
>do with their hyperactivity. My husband and I would like to try all three
>boys with no milk in their diets. Any advice or any directions to
>books/websites would be greatly appreciated. I have read the book by Karyn
>Seroussi and also have both cookbooks by Lisa Lewis. I am awaiting the
>book
>written by Jane Zukin, Raising Your Child Without Milk. I think I have a
>good headstart and would like to communicate with other parents in a same
>situation...some sort of support group. Thanks in advance.
