Without a doubt.  Who else will pay for that
fundamental research that has been crying out for
attention for years, but has never actually happened.

I know of one academic paper that really did push the
envelope with regards to knowledge of stresses in
tiling systems ... all coming out of work we
commissioned on behalf of lawyers on one failure we
worked on.  That was my first, and biggest, success!

The good news of the day is that as of midday, I'm
finished on this matter.  They settled.  Obviously our
evidence was just too good!

And yes, it is sufficiently interesting that more than
once I've contemplated making it my core business.  I
just can't seem to get rid of the rest of the
interesting stuff I like doing as well!
