I apologize as this is not ham related; however, it seemed more likely that I
could get a meaningful and accurate response to the question here.

I get satellite tv from Dish Net and have had local channel access since
before that big court battle a few years ago. I get the networks from the Los
Angeles channels, 242, 244, 246, and 248, and PBS from PBS-XD on channel 249.

Recently, the local channels from my geographic area, Chico-Redding
California, were picked up by Dish net. I would like to switch over to the
locals as we do not get particularly good reception via indoor antenna.
However, I am concerned that if I call the company about it, I will be
arbitrarily switched to the locals here without an opportunity to say no. I
do not wish to lose access to what little described programming is available
on the Networks.

I am assuming that if the locals here do not carry the DVS programs on the
subcarrier then chances are, it would not be available on the Alternate audio
channels of Dish Net. So I am simply asking whether my assumptions seem
reasonable, and how would you on this list proceed in such a situation?
Thanks for ideas.
