Beef steaks
salt & pepper
rice flour
sliced onion(s)
tomato juice (or tomato sauce thinned a little) or diced tomatoes
Lee & Perrins original Worcestershire sauce (optional)
This can be made with inexpensive cuts of beef. Rub steaks with salt &
pepper, then dust with rice flour & pound a little with a meat hammer.
Lightly brown each side in hot fat (I like palm shortening). Do not
overheat meat at this stage, or it will not get tender. Remove from pan.
Saute sliced onions in drippings. Pour in a little tomato juice &
scrape bottom of pan. Put steaks & onions in crock pot. Cover with pan
drippings & more tomato juice. Cook on low 8 to 10 hours. Salt & pepper
to taste. Stir in a couple tablespoons Worcestershire sauce if desired.
Serve with mashed potatoes, kernel corn and a green salad. It's
colorful, yummy & comforting. Men like it. ~Valerie in Tacoma, WA
