When I was in Omaha at the CSA?USA conference last week, I bought a can
of Heinz Cream of Tomato soup (see label below). It was DELICIOUS! I
wrote the Heinz Company today and would respectfully suggest others
interested also correspond with this company. If you don't have time to
write a letter, they have a website: www.hjheinz.com and there is a
'Contact us' section for you to e-mail them. I wrote to:

Dear Mr. Johnson:
I have Celiac Disease and cannot eat Gluten: wheat, barley, rye or oats.
I recently purchased a can of your Cream of Tomato Soup, made in England
and distributed in the USA by British Wholesale Imports, Inc. On the
label it says, "Suitable for a Gluten Free Diet" (label enclosed). Why
isn’t this product made available in the grocery stores in the United
States as well as in Great Britain?
I must purchase your soup by mail order which involves huge shipping and
handling charges. Are you aware that recent studies have concluded that
celiac sprue is relatively common, affecting 1 out of every 120 to 300
persons in both Europe and North America? (Published in the New England
Journal of Medicine, Volume 346, No. 3 - January 17, 2002).
Many of us have written or e-mailed you thanking you for your Gluten-Free
Products list. Please make it easier for us in the United States to
purchase other Heinz products which are labeled "Gluten-Free" or Suitable
for a Gluten-Free Diet".
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,einz
