Crosspost - FYI - Found this as I gleaned my email recently.
Dr. Bruno provided testimony to NJ legislature in May.

PLEASE FORWARD TO ANYONE WITH A PHYSICAL DISABILITY OR PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS,
ESPECIALLY WHEELCHAIR USERS...

Dear Friends:

Following testimony before the NJ Legislature Committee on Health and Human
Services (below), the US Department of Justice wants to create a new policy
to make the inside of hospitals and doctor's offices accessible to people
with disabilities and physical limitations.

US Department of Justice Disability Rights Division lawyer Amanda Maisels
would like to hear ASAP from people with physical limitations and
disabilities -- especially women wheelchair users -- who have:

. Been unable to enter doctors offices because of steps.

. Been unable to have gynecological or other medical examinations because
they couldn't get up onto high examination tables in doctor's offices, or
who
have been unable by themselves to get up on high examination tables without
the danger and embarrassment of being lifted.

. Been unable because of their wheelchairs, small stature or physical
limitations to get close to a mammography machine.

. Been unable to have X-rays or other imaging procedures (MRI, CT scans) --
or who have postponed or refused procedures -- because they couldn't get up
onto high "X-ray" tables, or who have been unable by themselves to get up
onto high tables without the danger and embarrassment of being lifted.

Please send your experiences and your request for a new policy on and
expeditious enforcement of "internal accessibility" to:

Please send a letter to your Congressperson and Senators and to your state
legislators if your are interested in an internal access bill in your state.

On this Independence Day please help increase the independence and health of
people with disabilities.

Be well,
