You'll need a program like WinDVD or PowerDVD to get your player to display
the movies.  However, I don't think there are too many folk who'd watch a
DVD on their computer, rather than on their regular TV set.

I may be wrong here, but I think a typical Computer\DVD user would be
someone like a young person, whose sole 'domain' is their bedroom, and who
likes to do their own thing.

Stand-alone DVD players are pretty cheap.  If you're lucky, you might be
able to find a DVD player with macrovision disabled, and no regional zone
coding.

The only requirement to use a stand-alone DVD player with TV is that you
can't plug the player into a piggy-backed VCR, which is probably the way
most folk have their viewing system set up, it has to go direct to the TV
set.  Unless, as I said above, you can find a model with no macrovision
scrambling.
