If the Intel site says you need Win 98 SE rather than Win 98 First edition, you'll probably have to do a clean install or an upgrade, altho you can do a clean install from the upgrade CD if you have your original Win 98 CD. Having done the upgrade and a clean install, I would recommend you do a clean install. You can get Win 98 SE from ebay or from www.bigclearance.com. Maybe someone else knows of a workaround for this problem.
