I have an epson 636U scanner that has been working for over a year.

All of a sudden it stopped working.

Finally I called epson support (for a fee because I was out of
warranty). Tech support was unable to help. They suggested my USB port
was defective.

When I turn on the scanner I get a message that a new device has been
detected. It asks for direction to the scanner's drivers.
I direct the dialog box to c:\epson\epson10327 where the drivers are
located.

I then get the following messages:
  "location of driver:
        c:\epson\epson~1\escanfb.inf"

after clicking on next I get "Windows was unable to install the
perfection 636 device."

then "windows encountered an error while trying to install this
device"

  then "error code 1F7"

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Ron
