Dunno if this'll help but..........
Yesterday I attempted to add some extra ram to a slow-slow-slow 98'-ish
vintage Aptiva.
It's installed ram was 32Mb of PC100 ram and I added 128Mb of PC133.
It booted up ok, but came up with all kinds of illegal op. messages, ie,
'Explorer has performed an illegal operation', that kind thing, and wouldn't
completely load.
So I pulled out the 128Mb stick. No problems, normal load.
I pulled out the old 32Mb stick and replaced it with the new 128Mb. No
problems (except still not a lot faster, if at all, guess it must be a
combination of the Bigfoot drive and slow FSB)
So I've learnt the hard way that ram types can be incompatible.
