mmm..I think that the adatper will work only for mice.....

Mice "sucks" power from serial ports and PS/2 ports,  in a tricky way....but
I think that keyboards need much more than that.....

I don't have the pinout of a PS2 mouse and keyobard connectors, but I think
that they are different because of power specs.

what happened with your keyboard connection??

If your mobo is not too old, it should have USB keyboard support....maybe
you can try using a ps/2 -> USB adapter....
