Are you suggesting that I was ridiculing someone?? I merely clarified that
I was looking for actual references or opinions to back up Sears' assertion.
I already know what Sears' position is, so more quotes from him are not much
help unless there are footnotes to his quotes indicating references to
studies pertaining to his assertions. I'd like information either way. I'm
not necessarily advocating long-term ketosis for everyone, but I am
interested in understanding if there is a scientific basis to claim that
staying in ketosis longterm makes one's cells react like "fat magnets," to
use Sears' phrase. I also recognize that there are metabolic differences
that make various levels of carb restriction more appropriate for certain
individuals. I (knock on wood!) am the only member of my family not to have
type 2 diabetes. I credit this with staying primarily on the stricter side
of carb restriction most of the time. However, I absolutely accept that some
people can eat virtually all the paleo carbs they desire and feel fantastic.
If you are somehow implying that this forum is about ridiculing people, I
completely disagree. I find this forum extremely informative and helpful.
I've implemented various members' suggestions over the years with much
success. I certainly don't agree with everything others post, and I'm sure
many disagree with what I post. But that is what makes this forum an
interesting exchange of ideas.
