Several people have told me via private mail that RadioShack sells short
cords, too.

Some company sells what they call a "Wall Wart Cord," or something like
that. I have some of them on the automation system at my radio reading
service. They are about a foot long, and the wart rests in a rubber cup
which has the outlet in the bottom.

The computer technicians paid about $8.00 each for them.

Here at home, I buy the shortest, heaviest, cheap extension cord I can find,
un-roll only the amount of wire that I need to reach the power strip, and
plug one wart into each side of the outlet. I've been using that trick for
several years with no problems.

The shortest standard extension cords appear to be 6 feet long.

On a related subject, if you ever need to lengthen the cord on a power
strip, Radio Shack sells a nice 10 foot grounded extension cord. I use one
in order to have my computer connected to an outlet which is not controlled
by the light switch.
