Oops. I was trying to reply to this post when I hit send accidentally early.
As I was trying to say, WIN98Se uses a software program to shut power off.
When you reformatted, you probably lost the update for the HDD supplement which
delays shutdown for three seconds to allow the program to write to the disc.
You may want to go to Windows Update and get the Critical updates for this. Hope
this is the direction you're trying to go with this.
